About the market

Mexico is a Tier 3 country in our tables, but close economic ties with the United States mean some of its demand behaves differently from the rest of the band. Retail, telecoms, banking, food delivery and gaming advertisers are active, and some US brands run Spanish-language campaigns that reach Mexican users as well as Hispanic audiences north of the border. Mexican users therefore often see a wider mix of ads than the tier alone would suggest.

Android dominates smartphone ownership, with iOS a smaller share concentrated among higher-income users, who can be worth noticeably more to advertisers. Spanish is the main language, and Mexican users form one of the largest Spanish-speaking online audiences anywhere. Mobile is the primary screen for most people, so mobile layouts and fast-loading pages deserve priority over desktop design. Football, music, recipes and personal finance attract big audiences. The end-of-year season lifts retail demand, and El Buen Fin, a national shopping event in November, can add an earlier bump for shopping and deals content.

Getting paid from Mexico

Mexican publishers commonly receive payments by international transfer to a bank account, either in pesos after conversion or into a US-dollar account where the bank offers one. Some networks pay through PayPal or providers that issue local receiving details. Fees and options vary by bank, so check each network's payment settings and compare the exchange rate you are offered with the mid-market rate.
