About the market
India has one of the largest smartphone audiences on earth and sits in Tier 3 in our model. eCPMs are low per impression, often a fraction of Tier 1 levels, yet volume can make up for a lot. Advertisers include e-commerce, fintech, education, gaming and consumer brands, and competition for attention rises during festival seasons such as Diwali, when budgets tend to grow.
Android is overwhelmingly dominant, with iPhones a small share concentrated in cities, so plan around Android rates and a wide range of devices, including low-cost phones with limited storage. Hindi and English are widely used, but many users prefer regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Bengali or Marathi, and apps that support them can reach people that English-only products miss. Mobile data is relatively cheap and heavily used, so video formats work, though lighter apps still help on entry-level devices. Rewarded ads tend to be well accepted when players get useful value in return.

Getting paid from India
Indian publishers usually receive network payments as an inward remittance to a bank account, converted to rupees by the bank. Google pays by bank transfer in India. Banks may ask you to confirm the purpose of each payment and can issue a remittance certificate, which is useful for tax records. Fees and options vary by bank, so check each network's payment settings and your bank's charges.
