About the market
Switzerland is a Tier 2 market in our model, but it is a special case: very high incomes and purchasing power, yet a small population split across language regions. Banks, insurers, luxury goods, watches, pharmaceuticals, travel and retail all advertise, and the high cost of living pushes up what many brands will pay for a quality audience. Advertisers usually buy by language region, so German-speaking, French-speaking and Italian-speaking Switzerland behave like separate sub-markets, with the German-speaking part by far the largest. Seasonality is dominated by the ski season and Christmas on one side, with summer travel and mountain tourism in between. Black Friday is now widely observed, though less intensely than in the United States.
Switzerland is not in the EU, so GDPR does not apply by default, but the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection came into force in recent years and is similar in spirit. If your site or app also serves EU visitors, GDPR covers them anyway, so most publishers run one consent flow for everyone. iPhones are very popular here and hold a large share of smartphones, which supports the iOS uplift in our calculator. Swiss readers are used to multilingual content, and many read English, but Swiss German differs from standard German in everyday speech, and local references build trust. Finance, property, travel, health and technology content attract steady advertiser interest.

Getting paid from Switzerland
Swiss publishers are normally paid by bank transfer, and Swiss banks are well used to foreign currency, so holding a dollar or euro account is straightforward. Payments in francs, where a network offers them, avoid a conversion step. Incoming international transfers sometimes carry correspondent or receiving charges. Fees and options vary by bank, so check each network's payment settings and ask your bank what it charges for incoming payments.
All figures come from our benchmark tables: Android eCPMs by tier, category or niche multipliers, modelled fill and the iOS multiplier. They are estimates for planning, not quotes.
