How much traffic do you need for Mediavine?

Updated · Every figure on this page is an estimate from our benchmark tables, not a quote from any network.

The short answer

Mediavine's main programme no longer has a session minimum. It asks for at least $5,000 in annual ad revenue, original audience-first content, clean traffic and good standing with Google AdSense or Ad Exchange. Journey by Mediavine, its entry programme, asks for 1,000 sessions from Tier 1 countries (the US, Canada, the UK and Australia) in 30 days. Requirements change from time to time, so confirm them on Mediavine's application requirements page before you apply.

The numbers

Entry requirements
NetworkEntry barMonthly
Google AdSenseNo traffic minimum$53
Ezoic250,000 users a month$1,796
Media.netNo traffic minimum$42
Monumetric10,000 pageviews a month$40
Mediavine$5,000 USD a year in ad revenue$1,011
Raptive25,000 pageviews a month$169

The monthly column shows what a general-interest site would earn on each network at exactly its entry bar, with two pages per session and a balanced audience.

What moves the number

The revenue requirement counts what your site has earned from ads over a year, from whichever network paid you, so it does not depend on how many pageviews it took to get there. Journey is different and is measured in sessions, which are visits and may include several pageviews. Check the sessions figure for Tier 1 countries in your analytics over the most recent 30 days rather than relying on a total pageview count.

Why does the bar matter? Premium managed networks tend to earn higher RPMs than open networks, partly through stronger advertiser relationships and partly through tuned layouts and video. In our model Mediavine's Tier 1 RPM is well above AdSense's at the same reference setup. That gap is the reason many bloggers treat the entry requirement as a milestone worth working towards.

Audience location and niche affect how much reaching the bar is worth. A site with mostly Tier 1 readers in a commercial niche gains the most from switching, while a site read mainly in Tier 3 countries gains less in absolute terms. If you are below the bar, AdSense has no published traffic minimum, Monumetric publishes a lower entry point of roughly 10,000 monthly pageviews, and Raptive asks for 25,000 monthly pageviews, so you can earn while you grow. Mediavine also pays on longer terms than AdSense, typically around 65 days after month end, so plan your cash flow around that delay.

Whichever programme you aim for, prepare the same groundwork. Make sure Google Analytics is installed and tracking correctly, keep the site in good standing with AdSense, and clean up thin or duplicated pages before applying, because reviewers look at content quality as well as numbers. A site that misses the bar today can usually keep earning on AdSense while it grows.
