How much does AdMob pay per 1,000 impressions?

Updated · Every figure on this page is an estimate from our benchmark tables, not a quote from any network.

The short answer

AdMob does not pay a fixed amount per 1,000 impressions. The rate depends mostly on the ad format and where your users live. Rewarded video and interstitials earn several times more than banners, and a Tier 1 impression can be worth many times a Tier 3 one. The table above shows our estimated eCPM for each combination.

The numbers

Google AdMob
FormatTier 1Tier 2Tier 3iOS Tier 1
Rewarded video$12.00$5.00$1.40$15.60
Interstitial$8.00$3.20$0.90$10.40
Banner$0.90$0.40$0.10$1.17
Native$3.50$1.50$0.40$4.55
App open$5.50$2.20$0.60$7.15

Rewarded video has the highest AdMob price at every tier in this table, from $12.00 in Tier 1 down to $1.40 in Tier 3, while banners stay under $0.90 even in Tier 1.

What moves the number

The biggest lever is format. Rewarded video sits at the top because users opt in and usually watch to the end, which advertisers value. Interstitials come next, then app open ads and native, with banners far behind because they are small and easy to ignore. Region comes second: our tables group countries into three tiers, and Tier 1 rates for the same format are several times the Tier 3 rates.

Platform and category also matter. Our model applies an uplift to iOS users, who have historically attracted higher bids, and a multiplier by app type: finance apps and mid-core games sit above the baseline, while hypercasual games and education apps sit below it. Fill rate is the quiet factor. AdMob does not return an ad for every request, and unfilled requests earn nothing, so revenue per request is always a little lower than eCPM.

Read the table as a starting estimate rather than a promise. Your own AdMob reports will show eCPM by format and country after a few weeks of traffic, and those figures should replace ours once you have them. Rates also move through the year, typically rising towards the end-of-year holidays and easing in January, so compare like with like when you judge a change.

Next steps

  • Enter your daily users and ad frequency in the AdMob revenue calculator to turn eCPM into monthly income.
  • Compare format rates side by side on the ad format pages before choosing your placements.
  • Read the AdMob payment guide so you know roughly when your balance will reach the payout threshold.

All figures come from our benchmark tables: Android eCPMs by tier, category or niche multipliers, modelled fill and the iOS multiplier. They are estimates for planning, not quotes.
