About the market

The United States is the reference market for almost every ad network, and it sits in Tier 1 in our model. Brands, app install advertisers, retailers and financial services firms all bid hard for American users, so auctions are deep and fill is rarely a problem. That depth is why the US usually sets the top of any eCPM or RPM range you see on this site. Seasonal swings are sharp, though: rates tend to climb through the autumn into the holiday shopping period and dip in January when budgets reset.

Device ownership is unusually balanced. iPhones hold a far larger share here than in most countries, close to an even split with Android, and iOS users have historically drawn higher bids, which our calculator reflects with a platform uplift. English is the default language for nearly all campaigns, though Spanish-language demand is substantial too. Spending power is high, which helps finance, health and shopping content. The flip side is competition: plenty of other publishers chase the same users, so quality and retention decide how much of that demand you capture.

Getting paid from United States

Most US publishers are paid by ACH or direct deposit into a domestic bank account, which is usually the cheapest route because no currency conversion is involved. US networks will ask a US person for a W-9 tax form rather than a W-8BEN. Wire and PayPal remain options with some networks. Fees and options vary by bank, so check the payment settings in each network before your first payout.

All figures come from our benchmark tables: Android eCPMs by tier, category or niche multipliers, modelled fill and the iOS multiplier. They are estimates for planning, not quotes.
